Aqueous Parts Washers Get the Results You Need with Safe Water-based Detergents

Most ultrasonic cleaners sold today are aqueous parts washers. However, there are also parts washers which do not include ultrasonic systems. These systems are less costly, but do not clean parts to the same level of cleanliness. Aqueous parts washers use safe, biodegradable cleaning fluids to remove contaminants found in the manufacturing environment. When the proper cleaning fluid is used, virtually any contaminant can be removed. Some common contaminants include:

  • Cutting lubricants and coolants.
  • Buffing and polishing compounds.
  • Metal chips and fines.
  • Burned carbon.
  • Rust and oxidation.
    Sandblasting residues.
  • Mold release agents and residues.
  • Greases and oils.
  • Most other liquid and solid contaminants.  See our Application List for more details.

Some parts washers do not include ultrasonic cleaning systems since simple agitation of the cleaning fluid can remove the contamination from the parts. However, the addition of ultrasonics to aqueous parts washers will drastically improve the cleaning results and make the process much faster.

Aqueous Parts Washers include 3 Processing Stages

Unlike solvent-based cleaners, aqueous parts washer require 3 distinct steps/stages to complete the process.  These include:

  • The cleaning process:  This is where the dirt and contaminants are removed from the parts.
  • The rinse process, where the detergents used in the cleaning process are removed.
  • The drying process, where the water used in the rinse process is removed.

In some cases, additional steps must also be included such as a rust preventative dip where parts are coated in a rust preventative fluid to prevent oxidation.  Zenith can provide any of the above processes in any combination to satisfy the requirement of most customers.

Many Equipment Options at Zenith

At Zenith Ultrasonics, your equipment choices are literally endless.  Any combination processing steps can be included.  We can provide small and large systems that provide cleaning only, cleaning and rinsing, cleaning rinsing and drying, or any specialized processing step such as rust preventative dips, inert gas blow-off, and much more.
