Ultrasonic Passivation Systems
Passivation systems are generally very similar to our multi-stage cleaning systems in that they include a series of tanks each of which performs a specific task. The first tank usually contains a nitric or citric-acid passivation fluid into which parts are submerged to passivate them. The next 2 tanks are typically rinsing tanks in which is the passivation fluids are removed from the parts, and the final tank is a drying tank to dry the parts. Some systems such as our Angstrom Passivation Systems combine an ultrasonic cleaning system with passivation systems that can be used to clean parts to zero-residue performance, rough-clean parts, passivate parts, or perform zero-residue cleaning AND passivation for ultra-critical military or medical parts applications.
Whichever system is most appropriate for your needs, all Zenith passivation systems are designed to use nitric acid, nitric-sodium dichromate blends, or citric acid passivation fluids. In order to accomplish this, the system includes specific differences between standard multi-stage cleaning systems such as:
Seal-less pumps with specific compatible seals
Plumbing designs which reduce or eliminate crevices that could lead to crevice corrosion and are compatible with strong acids
Tank covers and Process Area Enclosures made of compatible materials to keep fumes contained
Spill containment systems
Internally and externally-welded and supported metal or compatible plastic tanks
Compatible fume exhaust systems with flow controls
Automation systems designed to eliminate fumes or liquids from attacking automation components.
Passivation systems are available in several standard sizes with customization available at no additional charge. Zenith can manufacture a custom passivation system designed specifically for your needs.
